



On the morning of Monday, June 2, 2025, at the auditorium of the Faculty of Law in the city of Tarhuna, a scholarly thesis was discussed as part of the requirements for obtaining a higher degree (Master's) in the Department of Islamic Studies at the Faculty of Education – Tarhuna, University of Al-Zaytouna. The thesis is titled:
"Contemporary Applications of Maritime Laws and Illegal Immigration: The Libyan Waters as a Model,"
submitted by researcher Mohamed Abdullah Al-Mahdi Osman.
The examination and evaluation committee consisted of the esteemed professors:
Prof. Dr. Mohamed Abdullah Al-Naqrath – Supervisor and Chair.
Prof. Dr. Abdul Nabi Jamaa Abu Gharrara – Internal Examiner.
Prof. Dr. Jumaa Mustafa Al-Fitouri – External Examiner.
This thesis comes as a fulfillment of the requirements for a Master's degree in the field of Islamic Studies. In his research, the candidate addressed contemporary issues that impact the legal and jurisprudential reality concerning Libyan territorial waters and the phenomenon of illegal immigration. The study explored the Sharia-based and objective frameworks for dealing with these matters.
After an in-depth academic discussion, the committee praised the scientific effort exerted in the thesis and approved it without any remarks.
The defense session was attended by the Director of the Postgraduate Studies Office at the faculty, several faculty members from the department, along with a group of postgraduate students and the researcher's family.
